Tartu, Estonia - 6 August, 2015 - Mieke Kröger has defended her U23 European ITT title today in Tartu, Estonia. Kröger finished in a time of 24:57, ahead of Ogla Shekkel (UKR) +8 seconds, and fellow German Corinna Lechner +19 seconds.
After winning the German National Time Trial title in June, the young 22 year-old Velocio-SRAM rider powered her way through the 18.4 kilometre course with an average of over 44.24km/hour. Kröger said "I really wanted to defend the title. It's my last U23 championship so now I'm going to be against the grown-ups! I knew if I did a good race then I had a chance to win. My tactic was to ride as smooth as possible and I did not want to over pace. The course was very short, with a few bridges to stop it being completely flat. There were some roads where I needed to pay more attention to the surface condition and there were a few technical corners. I'm really happy wining back to back titles and am starting to really love time trials."
The team will next race in Vårgårda, Sweden on 21 and 23 August for another two UCI World Cup's, including the Team Time Trial.
