Lotta Lepistö, In Her Own Words
Lotta Lepistö may have dropped from third overall to seventh on the last stage of Internationale Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen but a consistent performance throughout the week and a breakthrough victory has left her motivated for the future.
It would have been amazing to finish on the top 3 on GC but in the end I am really happy with my performance. I got my first win and many top five and top ten results throughout the race. Before the race I didn’t think I’d be in the top ten on GC anyway so I am happy.
I knew the race would be tough with the amount of climbing but I surprised myself to survive them everyday except for today. I feel like I have now taken another step forward in my development and I will be back stronger. I can already feel like I can push harder than before.
I’ve also learnt about positioning and reading the bunch. I can feel when the right time is to be in the front of the peloton. It’s something that is coming more natural to me now. I’ve been watching the more experienced riders to see their movement. I learnt a lot at the Aviva Women’s Tour too, that’s the first time I thought I’ve been making steps forward with positioning. I’ve also been growing in the sprints. I’m learning to stay cool and stick to a wheel I’ve chosen and just believe in it then go full gas in the sprint.
Next up is La Course for us. I hope I will recover in time and am looking forward to the race. We’ve got the same team for the race with Carmen Small coming back and we hope to put on a good show.
